Dual Ethernet cards in on PC configuration?

Computer A
-----------------------------------
2 intel 10/100 ethernet pci cards
windows xp pro sp2
Needs internet access
Needs ability to share files with Computer B

Computer B
------------------------------
windows xp pro sp2
1 intel 10/100 pci card.
can NOT have access to the internet - security wise
Has to have the ability to share files with Computer A

Points
-----
* Computer A's internet access is coming from a Linksys router that has a Router IP Address of 192.168.2.1 and assigns IP addresses using DHCP.
* Computer A is physically connected to the router via patch cable.
* i have a crossover cable to connect Computer A to Computer B

Questions
--------------
When I pop both ethernet cards in Computer A, which one will it default to? ( Assume fresh install of o/s and its powering up for the first time.

Should I see both ethernet cards in device manager?
Should I be using static IPs at all?
Assuming Im using workgroups, how should I proceed?

TYVM

popping cards into a box are random. put one in, get it working, put 2nd one in, get it working. they should stay configured that way.

you should see both cards in device manager.
you should use static ips. will make debugging easier. but since both boxes are windows, might just work with dhcp if the ips change.

A should have internet forwarding turned off.

Since MS has been known to leak, we saw leaking with NT and Win2000, I would suggest a firewall like a netscreen run in transparent mode to block all traffic except microsoft networking from B to A and back.

--
get A's internet working.
then unplug it.
get the connection between A and B working w/ ip.
then work to get the workgroup working.
then plug the internet in.
look for leaks.
test to see if works. it should. been done before. I have done it some. been awhile under windows, mainly use linux now.
