Yes! I do this all the time in my job. You will need suitable 'firewire' or 'IEEE' cable to link your camcorder to your computer. Your computer also needs a socket to accept it - most modern machines do, but if it doesnt, one can be added very cheaply.
Once they are linked together, you need a program. A good all-in-one package is by Roxio and is called Easy Media Creator. If you have Windows Vista, you can use its in-built media import, and then its DVD Maker.
Before you import you need to make sure you have as many programs closed as possible to prevent interruptions.
You will also want to make sure your hard disk drive is fully defragmented (do NOT use the Windows defragmenter - it only defrags files and not free space). A good defragmenter is called Perfectdisk and is available as a 30day trial from www.raxco.com if you want the full version, its a very cheap and worthwhile purchase.
1hr of DV tape takes about 13gb of hard disk space, although this can be re-encoded to make it smaller-your DVD authoring program should handle this automatically.
