Unfortunately, many people have the need for security cameras these days to help keep them safe and secure. A wireless security camera is often used in a wide variety of surveillance settings. These include personal property, working environments, baby monitoring, banks, gas stations, shopping malls, airports, train stations, taxis, educational facilities, the military, national defense, and just about any large and busy public area you can think of.

Security cameras have been in use for about 60 years now and are used to help deter criminal activity and to help identify people. They are designed to monitor people or a specific area. The recorded images are then generally stored on hard disk drives or video cassettes. In fact, fake security cameras are often displayed in some instances to deter illegal activity.

The quality of the images can vary from camera to camera as it depends on factors such as compression ratios and images stored per second. The manufacturers of wireless security cameras apply different compression standards and ratios. The digital cameras can be used indoors and outdoors 24 hours a day and infrared models are also available.

A wireless security camera doesn't use any wires between the camera and the receiver and is easy to install. They are usually powered by batteries or an AC adapter. Wireless cameras are generally viewed as a better option over wired cameras. This is because you can usually place a wireless camera in a discreet or hard to reach area where wired models are hard to place.

Wireless cameras can be installed in just about any setting and some of them come with two-way audio capabilities. This allows you to move the camera around whenever you like. Many high-tech security cameras can be viewed from any computer anywhere in the world. You can also view some of them from other mobile devices such as iPhones.

Most people will use a security camera by contacting a professional security company. These firms will come to your home or business and set everything up for you. They then usually charge a monthly fee and monitor your property. If there are any intruders, the camera will record the time and the date the image was taken.

However, you can purchase a wireless security camera from a variety of stores. You will also find good deals for them online. If you're not much of a handyman, you may want to get somebody to help you install it and show you how it works. There are many makes and models on the market and they come in a variety of shapes, colours, sizes and prices. As with everything you buy, make sure there is some type of warranty of guarantee on the camera.

Many people are turning to wireless security cameras as a way to protect their family, property, and valuables. The price of a camera is very reasonable when you consider what you have to lose if you are robbed or attacked. Using them is an ideal way to be proactive instead of reactive.

HELP! Where can I get some good low cost or free surveillance camera software for my small home setup?

I've got a few basic CCTV cameras wired into a computer in my house. The problem is I can't seem to find any decent and/or low cost software to do recording, motion detection, etc. I've tried Argus which is OK (not even that good) and it's over $100 just for the license for 8 cameras. I tried VideoSpy and it barely even works. Thanks so much for any suggestions. SInce this is a home setup I don't want to pay a lot for the software, but I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount if the software is good.
Jeff, is that software good? Find it pretty reliable? How long you been using it?

It works good for me. Download the trial and see if it works for you... I only have one cam but I know it will do more.
